About Kununurra

Kununurra is the main administrative centre in the East Kimberley. Located on the Ord river, it has a population of approximately 5,500. It is the largest town in Western Australia north of Broome. It is approx 3040 kilometres from Perth by road.

The town is located close to the confluence of the Ord and Dunham River. Lake Argyle, Australias largest artificial lake, over 100km in size is 72km from town.

Kununurra has a Celebrity Tree Park with many trees planted by famous people including Baz Lurhman, after the majority of the filming for “Australia” was filmed just outside Kununurra. The town has many local attractions including waterfalls, gorges and ranges. It was voted the second best town to live in Australia for outdoor adventure by Outdoor Adventure magazine.
